Frequently Asked Questions

What is an escape room?

An escape room is a live-action, immersive game where participants work together to solve puzzles, complete challenges, and uncover clues in order to achieve a specific objective—often escaping from the room—within a set time limit, usually 60 minutes.

What’s so fun about Amaze Escape?

Amaze Escape is built in the old Arlington Police Station, giving our rooms the authenticity and intrigue of real escape scenarios. Whether you’re escaping from a real jail cell or breaking into secure areas of the building, you’ll have plenty of fun.

How long is the game?

Each game is 60 minutes long, though we ask that you arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled time to go through your orientation.

How many players can play at once?

We have two escape rooms on site. “Escape from Death Row” is perfect for 4 players, though up to 6 is OK. “The Art of the Heist” is best with 4-8 players.

Is it scary?

You may hear the “thunk” of a jail door slamming shut, but our rooms are designed for fun — not for frights.

What happens if we don’t escape in time?

Not everyone does! If you run out of time, our game masters will walk you through the remaining puzzles and reveal the ending.

What are your policies?

See our policy page for all of the fine print.

How old do I have to be?

Players aged 14 and above can play without adult supervision. Participants 13 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Is parking available?

There is plenty of street parking in our neighborhood in Arlington. We recommend parking along Massachusetts Avenue, or in the public parking lot off of Water Street.

What do I wear?

Dress comfortably. You won’t need to crawl, climb, or clammer in any of our rooms. (You will need to be dressed, though.)

What do I need to bring?

You won’t need any outside tools, writing materials, calculators, or anything else. We provide everything you need to solve our rooms.
